We know how debilitating back pain can be, and how much it can impact your day to day life.
As an avid gym user and sports player, i have experienced that multiple times. It was horrible!
The science behind back pain
We are dealing with an epidemic of back pain.
Back pain is the largest single cause of disability in UK and it accounts to 11% of total disability.
It accounts for 40% of sickness leave in UK and it costs £10 billion for the UK economy.
When a person is experiencing sudden pain during a deadlift, in most cases the pain is attributed to muscle spasm, however in some rare occasions the pain can be caused by a bulging disc or muscle/ tendon tear.
Muscle spasms are a normal but uncomfortable occurrences in both active and sedentary individuals. Muscle spasm in the lower back is a result of overactivity of the lower back muscles and underactivity or weakness of the core and hip muscles.
The Solution
Although back pain is complicated the solution can be rather simple.
You will have to strengthen the weak areas of your body, while you loosen and relax the back muscles.
Here at Optimal Physical Therapy we combine manual therapy and exercise prescription to treat your back pain. Our expert will assess and develop a personalised exercise program tailored specifically to your needs, in order to strengthen your weak areas.
While you are training hard to get stronger, we will manage the pain with Sports massage, which is design to help speed up recovery by promoting blood flow to the affected area.
Testimonial
Rares is a fantastic physio and one of the best I’ve ever seen. He is super friendly, polite and respectful, he asks questions and makes sure any of yours are answered. He explains what he’s doing and why, I have always felt incredibly comfortable around him. He’s helped me work on issues with my shoulder and then when I had issues with my lower back after rock climbing. Cannot recommend him enough, a great physio and also just a lovely person.” Laura
